Arsenal are moving ever nearer to the signing of Real Madrid forward Gonzalo Higuain. Read this article to know more about this transfer.
Arsenal are close to sealing the deal with a reported £22 million transfer on the cards.
Gonzalo Higuain's father has confirmed that talks between Real Madrid and potential suitors Arsenal and Juventus are at an "advanced stage" regarding the striker's transfer. But London Evening Standard says that the 25 year old Argentine has agreed a contract offer worth in the region of £125k a week. Arsene Wenger has been targeting the signing of an established striker this summer and having seemingly given up the chase for Fiorentina forward Stevan Jovetic it seems that Bernabeu ace Higuain is almost in the bag.
Juventus general director Giuseppe Marotta hinted on Thursday that the Serie A champions could still sign the Real Madrid forward ahead of Arsenal and the Argentine international's father insists that the deal with the Gunners remains incomplete.
"Nothing has yet been signed but I can assure the negotiations between the clubs are at an advanced stage," Jorge Higuain told La Repubblica.
"We will not agree any contract before the clubs reach a deal on the transfer.
"I am sure Arsenal made a big offer, as have Juventus."
It appears that one aspect of the deal that was holding up it’s completion may now have been overcome as Real Madrid are set to officially unveil Italian Carlo Ancelotti as the replacement to Jose Mourinho, after the former Chelsea and AC Milan boss left PSG en route to filling the vacant managerial post at the La Liga giants.
Higuain is a proven goal-scorer who despite playing something of a bit-part role at Real Madrid in recent seasons has still managed to rack up 122 goals for the Spanish side.
Such a signing may well leave Olivier Giroud wondering if he will retain his spot as a regular in Arsene Wenger’s starting eleven.
Whatever happens,it is for sure that Real Madrid are set to lose a talismanic striker!
